Laar Samson Kangben was born on 14th August, 1982 in Tubong in the Garu – Tempane District of Upper East Region of Ghana. The father Mr. Peter Takar Laar and His wife Mary Konduug are both farmers in profession. I am married to Madam Koanmah Fiimi Philomena who is a professional Teacher. I am Interested in reading books and making of friends while I speak English, Moar, Kuusal Mampruli.
Laar began my elementary education with the Roman Catholic Primary School in Tubong. I continued my Junior Secondary School education also at Tubong Roman Catholic where I wrote my Basic Education Certificate Examinations (B.E.C.E), passed and was admitted into Bawku Secondary School in 2001/2002 academic year where I completed my Secondary Education in 2003/2004 in Bawku. In 2005, I went to Tamale polytechnic to continue with my education where I pursued Higher National Diploma (Accounting option) and completed in 2006/2007 academic year in Tamale.I studied courses such as Financial Accounting, Elements of Economics, Business
mathematics, communication skills, business communication, Quantitative method, management accounting, Auditing, management information system, computer and cost accounting. I am currently studying IDL in Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with KNUST Level 300 (course deferred) in 2015 due to some personal issues in my political career.
Working Experience
After completing Tamale Polytechnic in 2007, I was posted to Bunkpurugu – Yunyoo National Health Insurance Scheme where I did my National Service. I was then retained to work in the scheme for two years after my service as Accounts Clerk (assistant) to the Scheme in Bunkpurugu – Yunyoo District in 2008–2009. While in the Scheme, I was appointed as a Project Manager to the Presbyterian Cooperative Credit Union – Nakpanduri 2009 to 2010. In September, 2010, I applied and was appointed as the Project Manager to the Presbyterian Go Home Project Gambaga to November, 2015.
When in school at Tubong Roman Catholic Junior Secondary School in 1998-1999, I was the Assistant Senior Prefect and the office boy and became the 2003-2004 President for National Union of Presbyterian student – Ghana in Bawku Senior Secondary School. In 2005-2006 I was the prayer secretary for National Union of Presbyterian students-Ghana(Tamale Polytechnic) and finally became the president of the same Union in 2006/2007 academic year in the same school (Tamale Polytechnic). I also became the Youth Superintendent of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana which comprises of the three northern regions (Northern, Upper East and Upper West, from 2007 to 2009)
