Bright Edem Droefenu is a young, energetic and hardworking gentleman of Thirty-Nine years, who has been at the forefront of most activities in the Cape Coast metropolis. Born to Madam Faustina Mensah a teacher and the Late Peter Wilberforce Droefenu (former Director of Education for Ajumako District), Bright started his elementary school at the famous Albert Sam Memorial Preparatory School in Cape Coast. He continued with his ‘O’ Level and “A’ Level Secondary Education at Kpando Secondary School in the Volta Region , where he completed his “O” level in 1994 and the Advance level education in Business studies in 1996. After his National Service which took him to the Biriwa Canoe Fishermen Co-Operative Society as the Administrative Officer for the premix committee, he gained admission to the University of Cape Coast in 1998 and completed in 2001 with a B.Ed Social Sciences Degree in Economics and Business Management. Bright also holds an Executive MBA Degree in General Management from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, in 2011. The PPP candidate has undertaken numerous courses in Credit Analysis, Customer Relationship, Loan Restructuring, Operations Management, Branch Management, Project Loan Appraisal, Offshore Transactions, Syndicated facilities, Investment Analysis, International Trade Market and many others, both at the National Banking College and other Institutions.

WORKING EXPERIENCE

Apart from Teaching Economics and Business Management at Adisadel College, Cape Coast and Sammo Secondary School, Cape Coast (on part time basis) in his earlier career, the young gentleman has a total of over fifteen (15) years working experience in the Banking Industry as well as Sales and Marketing. Bright worked as a Corporate Relationship Manager, Wholesale Banking Division, Standard Chartered Bank, Head Office, between 2002 and 2008. He was instrumental in structuring most facilities for top notch companies such as VRA, TOR, Ghana COCOBOD, BOST, Ghana Telecom, Automotive Springs, GOIL, Cirrus Oil and the defunct Ghana International Airlines among others. The young gentleman then joined Intercontinental Bank PLC as Head of Public Sector Banking Unit One. From Intercontinental Bank, he decided to join his young family in Cape Coast and therefore joined First National Savings and Loans Company (now GN Bank), a member of Groupe Nduom in July 2009. This was at the earlier stages of the company. He was the Branch Manager for Cape Coast and with additional responsibility of the Elmina Chapel Square Branch. Under his managerial skills and ability, Bright made First National a household name in the Cape Coast and Elmina area. In his management of the two branches, he worked tirelessly for an additional branch to be opened at Elmina Essuekyir and Cape Coast Mfantsipim junction. Under his administration, he again proposed and worked insidiously to open two more branches at Mankessim and Assin Foso, making him manage as many as six branches of the company.

Bright contested the 2012 parliamentary elections on the ticket of the PPP in the Cape Coast South Constituency but lost to the incumbent Member of Parliament. In September, 2013, Mr.  Droefenu was re-assigned in the Groupe to be the Sales and Distribution Manager of First Digital Television, when it was newly acquired. This new appointment made him travel to most part of the country in an effort to make First Digital Decoders the choice for each home.

To fulfill the promise of God that most companies in Groupe Nduom starts with Bright, he was re-assigned and appointed as the Sales Manager for the newly established GN Life Assurance Company Limited also a member of Groupe Nduom in January 2016. He is currently responsible for the sale of Individual Life Assurance Products of the Company for the Greater Accra, Eastern, Central, Western and Volta Regions.

MARITAL AND CHRISTIAN LIFE

Bright Edem Droefenu is married to Maud Aba Droefenu and the family is blessed with a nine-year-old boy. Bright is a Christian a staunch member of the Anglican Church, who worships at the Christ Church Cathedral, Cape Coast. He was the 3rd Captain of the 3rd Cape Coast Company of the Boys’ Brigade , a member of the Guild of Servants of the Sanctuary as well as the Anglican Men’s Fellowship. He has been a Diocesan Secretary, Assistant National Secretary, National Secretary and the Immediate Past Director General (National President) of the Guild of Servants of the Sanctuary (Altar Servers). He is currently the Chairman of the Men’s Fellowship Investment and Finance Committee, member of Cathedral Finance Committee, Vice Chairman of the Christ the King Central Co-Operative Credit Union, Synod Delegate for the Cathedral and a member of the Diocesan Finance Board of the Cape Coast Diocese of the Anglican Church. He is also a proud recipient of the Bishop’s Badge of Honour.

 

SOCIAL LIFE

The people of Cape Coast see Bright as the best person to represent them in parliament. This stems from the fact that his human relations and social contacts is second to none. Bright is a fun and friend of everybody both young and old. He is normally referred to as “Mr Bright’, “Chairman” or “Manager”.

Bright is a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Cape Coast Central and a strong football fun. He has worked with various football teams in the Cape Coast Metropolis. He was once the Operations Officer of Cape Coast Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs FC and latter Chief Executive Officer of Great Astronomers FC (a division two side based in Adisadel Village). His biggest achievement in football was the fact that he was the Chief Executive Officer of Elmina Sharks Football Club from September 2009 to September 2013. He was the CEO who took Elmina Sharks FC from Division Two to Division One within two attempts. He also enjoys playing Golf and Snooker.

 

Bright Edem Droefenu is known in Cape Coast for providing jobs to numerous unemployed youth in the metropolis as well as being prepared to share the little that he has with everyone who comes into contact with him. No doubt the youth and people of Cape Coast are craving that he should be elcted for parliament come November 7th 2016.
