Iddissah Zaharatu is the parliamentary candidate for Bimbilla on the ticket of the PPP. She was born on 6th June, 1974 in Binda which is part of the Nanumba south district but hails from Kataba, in the East Gonja Distict. She is married.

She had her primary and her middle school education in the Binda primary school and the Nakpayili Middle school respectively. She then continued to the Bimbilla Secondary School from 1988 to 1992. She has done a lot of work in local governance and with NGOs and as such has a lot of experience in those fields. She was elected an assembly member for the Madina electoral area in Bimbilla and has served on the works sub-committee of the Nanumba south district assembly. Again, she has been trained by SEND Ghana and Christian Aid as a community champion and has since 2015 passed that knowledge to several women, youth and religious groups on the need for improved maternal health in the Nanumba district.

As a representative for women groups on the Districts Citizens Monitoring Committee(DCMC) of SEND Ghana, she helped in the monitoring of pro-poor policies of government at the district level . She was the zonal coordinator of NADMO from 2000-2012. She currently works as the marketing coordinator of GN Bank in Bimbilla.

With her experience in local governance and poverty alleviation, she wishes to improve the basic living conditions of the Bimbilla constituents since she is privy to such conditions first hand serving in various capacities in that constituency. She was the PC for Bimbilla in the 2012 election and also the first female to do so.
